Artist Bio

Born in Hackensack, New Jersey to two Korean immigrants, I fell into clay by chance and have remained in love with the medium throughout my teenage years and undergraduate studies in the Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Fine Art at The College of New Jersey. I received my MAT in the Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing following another passion—linguistics and Speech Pathology. However, it was unsurprisingly in my nature to show an affinity for creative work. My mother and father had worked in the fashion industry throughout my childhood, both coming from older generations that were skilled enthusiasts of craft, food, and music.

I currently live in Philadelphia, PA where I work as a Visual Arts teacher at an independent school. Continuing a ceramics teaching practice beginning in 2016, I teach evening clay at the local community art school. When I’m not in the studio or my classroom, you can find me wallowing in Book Arts, exploring the outdoors, and trying new and old family recipes.
